The name Raclette refers to a meal and is a type of cheese with the same name. Raclette, the meal, is one of Switzerlands best loved national dishes and is very popular in other parts of Europe such as France and Germany. Modern electrical appliances that are used to make this dish are called Raclette grills. Raclette grill usually sits on the middle of the table for everyone to use. Cook vegetables and some meat on top of the raclette, usually with some seasonings as well. The traditional dish can be described as melted cheese eaten with boiled or grilled potatoes with small gherkins, pickled onions, vegetables and other toppings of your choice.
